Hey there, there are many amazing suggestions in this forum and I wanted to add the original life simulator: Alter Ego.

A text based game in which you lead the life of a male or female from birth to death. The game is told through a series of events in which you make a choice that will affect your characters stats and in some cases can lead to death. As you progress through the stages of life the game gets more complex adding on sections for your career, school, partner and gets quite addictive once you pass the childhood phase. There were two separate versions of the game for male and female with differing events in each one.

I think it would be fascinating to re examine and compare this game to the life sims that followed it. There was a remake of this for browser that can still be played, the original DOS version seems hard to buy nowadays.

Oh gosh, this one is interesting !
I remember it well. It’s a pleasure to play. Sometimes not, I do remember some pretty dark things happening in that game when I tried it as a late teen. Clearly an adult software, though it doesn’t say much about it.

It’s a RPG, an Interactive Fiction, and a strategy game all in one. It’s like Jones in the Fast Lane without the multiplayer and without the sense of humor.
    And then you die.

    Great game.
