Tijn has mentioned the fonts in the game and how they are often hard to read, they have small decorative detail which is very clashing, and also blend with background.
Tijn thinks the font was OK in the CRT era, but it seems even then, the French and Italian releases bothered to use an alternative, much simpler font, which is way more readable (although whether it was for readability or because the English font lacked the necessary glyphs I don’t know). I suppose the font was if anything worse in a screen where the font would blend more with the background.
A person has created a substitute font pack for the game, that can be used both with Exult and the regular DOSBox game. It seems to be based on the aforementioned fr,it fonts.
