Hi all!
We’re planning a celebration for our 100th episode. One thing we want to do is have a quiz!
So I figured it would be cool if everybody was able to send question for the quiz. There is no tooling for this now and I have only just started working on the (DOS based!) quiz program, but I would like to start collecting your questions already.
So here’s how to send in your questions:
Send me one or multiple text files, each containing the following lines:
N: Your Name
C: Category name
D: Difficulty
Q: The question line 1
Q: The question line 2
S: Sound file
W: Wrong answer
W: Wrong answer
W: Wrong answer
A: Correct answer
Your name will be displayed somewhere along the question.
We don’t have a fixed set of categories, yet, just pick a sensible name for the category the question will appear in and I will see to it that I reduce the categories down to a sensible number an put everything in a related category.
Difficulty should be a number between 1 and 10.
You can have 1 or 2 question lines, none of the lines must be longer than 76 characters (they will be displayed at the same time, this is just so I don’t have to deal with text formatting ;))
You’ll need exactly three wrong and one correct answers lines. The answers must not be longer than 70 characters.
Sound file is optional. This can be used to play a sound in addition to the question. Keep it short (shorter than 10 seconds). The file will definitely be downsampled to 22050Hz and there’s a good chance the file will have to be at most 2.9 seconds at 8bit mono, depending on how much time I find to code this, so keep that in mind ;))
If you want to send multiple questions in one file, separate them by a blank line.
Here’s an example:
N: rnlf
C: The Club
D: 7
Q: Who is the only person to appear on all episode?
S: tijn-voice-sample.mp3
W: rnlf
W: The guy from LGR
W: Pix
A: Tijn
N: rnlf
C: DOS Games
D: 10
Q: What's the name of the southern most city on
Q: the game map of Transarctia?
W: Berlin
W: Rome
W: Marrakesh
A: Tibesti
Oh, and finally, make sure the file is encoded as 8bit ASCII (or isolatin or utf8, but only use ASCII compatible characters ;)). Otherwise it might not display correctly.
Send them by mail to the club-account: club@dosgameclub.com.
