Novert (disables vertical mouse movement)

Hi all

I noticed when reviewing the 2017 threads that some people struggling with DOS Doom’s default mouse behaviour (I.e forward and backward movement via mouse).

You need Novert! A tiny little file that you just extract to your Doom directory. Then type “Novert” at the command line to enable it. When you now launch Doom, tada! No vertical mouse movement.

Btw, John Romero has confirmed that even back in the day he always used a mouse to control Doom. And some people spend a lot of time thinking about this 😉 e.g. https://soulsphere.org/apocrypha/keyboard/

Novert is a must if playing the OG DOS version!

And yeah, for John Romero it’s great because he’s left handed, he uses the mouse in his left hand and the arrow keys in his right.
