Patches (3D support)
-
Here’s a link to some patches for the original.
Looks like ‘3D’ was only available on Windows

Nice find, thanks firefyte! I’ll make use of these, for sure.
I’m not sure how I feel about a 3D patch specifically though. As I understand it, much of the praise this game gets is for it’s incredible software rendering abilities.
Isn’t there some story about the devs thinking that hardware rendering is kind of lazy, and that you should be able to do everything just as well in software, then going out of their way to prove it?
Maybe I’m remembering that wrong…
I’ll definitely be using the F2 save patch though!

I’ve been playing the 3dfx version on a Voodoo 1. It does look slightly nicer but there isn’t a whole lot in it. It smooths out some of the jagged edges and textures. Apart from that, I’m not sure I’d be able to tell the difference.
I’ll need to give these all a go, as they come with they all come with the gog release. I read the D3D version was marginally better than the 3Dfx version. I’m playing the 3Dfx version on a voodoo 3, but I also have a GeForce 4200ti I can try the D3D one on 😀 maybe a side by side comparison.
Here’s also a link to how to get the gog version working on DOS:
