PC Zone Review
-
Hi all, here’s a review of Syndicate.
I’m sure Richard will have more, but I thought I’d post this.
It is from a magazine that has been with me for a long time – PC Zone #5 Aug 1993.
It’s also the only PC magazine I still own!
“Totally amoral…ultra violent…& more fun than sex!”
As you can imagine, it definitely got the attention of this 14 year old 😉
They like the game, giving it 90%. It has a fairly good description of the basic elements of the game, including info on the CHIP implants, weapons and useful items.
I’ll post some info to help people get started with Syndicate soon.

I’ll jump on the bandwagon too, hehe.
For what it’s worth, here’s an article from PC Format issue 27, December 1993, about the Syndicate add-on they bundled with their coverdisk that month:
Edit: Re-uploaded second page because the bottom was cut off.
There’s also a download of the disk itself here:

Apparently the full PC Format review is in issue #20, may 1993, but I don’t have a copy of that 🙁
Thanks for sharing, TigerQuoll!
Loving the demo file. I’ve never played the American Revolt expansion, but this is a great way to see the extra kit that it adds (air-strike/cloak), as well as showing how the original game plays in general.
Hard not to die though! Lucky there’s not too many missions in the main game that throw that many waves of enemy agents at you all at once!
No worries Spoonboy.
I probably should have made it a separate thread though…
TBH, I haven’t actually played it myself. I never got the coverdisk with the magazine, and only just realised I could find it online!
So I was looking through my small collection of magazines in case I have a Simon the Sorcerer review somewhere (I do!), and came across this Syndicate: American Revolt one I missed earlier.
So, for what it’s worth after the fact, here it is:
Sorry for the poor quality. Couldn’t get my scanner working so I had to use the camera on my phone.
I started to listen to the Syndicate episode of the podcast a few minutes ago. For all German speaking DOS GAME CLUB members (hello rnlf), here are some scans of reviews from German (PC, home computer console gaming) magazines.

There are quite a lot and despite the language barrier, at least they give you an overview of the average ratings in this country.
