Here’s an adventure game I haven’t heard a lot about since but really loved back in the day…
Return of the Phantom (1993)
This was set after the events of The Phantom of the Opera (the book), but I vaguely remember time travel being involved. Microprose made it.
The puzzles were considered too simple for the time, and the game was more about the story, which makes me wonder if it would hold up better played today than other more obtuse adventure games might. Only one way to find out!
As a kid I had found a copy of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, which is really quite gruesome looking back, and so I basically took this game as the sequel I’d never get and really enjoyed it.
I’m pretty sure I played the floppy edition, but a CD-ROM version was later released with voices.
