I’d love to, if you want me. I can never stop talking about doom, or id software of old.

    Old post! Nevermind XD

This game feels so jokey. It’s taking the monkey island humor, and taking it up to 11. The beginning boot camp alone is so full of goofs, that it almost feels like a joke game. But if you proceed past that, it’s actually a pretty challenging point ‘n click game without the Sierra death loop.

If you enjoy absurd, almost monthy python level of humor, and point ‘n click adventures; this is the game for you. It’s also free on GoG.

This game blew me away back in the day. It’s amazing that this game, even 30 years after launch, still feels great. They really nailed the gameplay.

Modern ports, from official to things like gzdoom and prboom make running it a breeze. You can choose your own port to be either as faithful to the original or a port that’s basically its own new engine by now.

The mods was another draw. Even to this day there are still mods and maps being made. Big shout out to myhouse.wad which made the stranger mods more mainstream. If you don’t know myhouse.wad, it’s basically a liminal space with a story and actual doom gameplay. Don’t watch videos, just play it. It runs in gzdoom.

This is probably oldest game to still be this modern. With modern control scheme it’s still the father of all “boomer shooters” and definitely the father of all FPSs

This game, and Duke nukem 3d are the games I always install on any new hardware that will run it. I don’t even need to play it, I just want to know I can.

One of my shiny favs definitely has to be the 3rd person action RTS hybrid “Sacrifice” (windows). The way you could mix and match units through different gods was quite interesting to say the least. Not to mention the gameplay.

But to get back to EWJ: Please do an episode on it!

One of my favorite games ever! But so slow sometimes.

Fun game. Always on the top of my mind when I think about DOS games.

I remember there being an official AI patch found here.

I recently played this. It’s amazing how you need to mind the throttle in later levels. Great game!

The game was always low fps. It was just the way it was. If you want to play it with decent framerate one of the many source ports might scratch your itch for higher frames.

I have it boxed. It was about 3 euros in the local game store, and I couldn’t pass it after playing it without the cutscenes from one of the piracy CDs. You really miss a lot of the story that way, and had me confused immensely as a young boy.

It’s an interesting take on the point and click adventure game by introducing a doom-like technology fps viewpoint. Full motion cutscenes with “cutting edge” 3d animation.

Id like to bump this game because it’s obscure, rediculous and frankly, quite entertaining.

This is a good one. Not just for ewj, but also to dive a little bit into shiny entertainment. Their games were always weird and awesome in the craziest ways.
