    I hate to tell you this but the Stone of Visions is not the primary reason why you’d want to go into that dungeon. The dungeon has another purpose, but it might be too early for you. If your current task is to find Toronto, the Umajo-Kenta inn is a good place to start finding information. As for the Stone of Visions, some people in the city may know more about it or what to do with it.

    And sorry I made the wiki on what is now Fandom šŸ˜‰ It was better when it was Wikia, but still I don’t see many issues browsing it now (I have AdBlock).

    Did you also notice something strange with the movement in the 3D worlds in this chapter of the game? Between the three earlier dungeons and the Kounos basement and here, the viewpoint height is adjusted to make spaces seem smaller or larger without actually altering their scale. This also (feels like it) comes with altering the speed at which you move through the dungeons, making it difficult to judge where you are without referring to the map constantly. Itā€™s very strange.

    Yeah the maps differ quite a bit in the physical size of the blocks and the eye level, especially the caves which have very narrow blocks and high viewpoint, making it hard to see the floor or even the kritahs that come after you.

    IS4, your map link unfortunately doesnā€™t seem to workā€¦

    Fandom is trying to make it harder and harder to link to images… sorry, link fixed!

    Hello and happy holidays too! I’ll try to assist you in your journey as best as I can:

    – My party is constantly tired and even getting damage from being exhausted. I couldnā€™t afford a night at the inn, and I understand you can rest outside, but all I can do is press ā€œwaitā€. Why? I tried interacting with the beds but no avail.

    You cannot sleep in cities, so the only thing you can do is wait. You can however sleep outside Jirinaar, and in the hunters’ clan building too, for free. In these locations, the “Wait” button changes to “Rest”.

    – Navigation seems excruciating. Only in the 3D view thereā€™s a map and you can thankfully fast-travel. All building interiors look the same only adding to the confusion. Where the hell is that first dungeon the murderer flees off to?

    You get used to it. šŸ˜‰ The first dungeon is located outside the city (I think some iskai talk about it), and you can ask a herder outside the city for directions. Or, if you don’t mind “cheating”, you can take a look at the Nakiridaani map (and I recall someone on this forum also recorded a video how to get there.

    – Should I step outside the city gates? I wandered around in the jungle a while and itā€™s vast, and I of course got lost again! And then killed. And again. And again. I forgot to grab that pistol so I donā€™t have access to it. Combat seems fumbling about too: should I make the humans close-ranged fighters? If not, where can I get a bow or so?

    Definitely! There should be some weapons and healing drinks back at the hunters’ clan house, in the location where you woke up (and in the cellar too), I think, so that may help. As for training your humans, focus on using Tom and Drirr for combat, and either leave Rainer behind or use him as a meat shield. You can definitely survive without the pistol (I never used it even though I got it) but it takes some training, and getting some Morrowind-style hit and miss from early combat is expected.

    – Iā€™ve been stealing a lot of cutlery since that can be sold to get that ā€œexotic weaponā€ for 45gp. Any other ways to make money?

    The loot from krondir and warniak can be also sold for some gold. If you are okay with abusing glitches, you can also steal items from shops if you are moving towards the counter and right-click to select them (the range expands somewhat if you time it right).

    ā€“ Should I invest all skill points when going to the combat trainer or hold of to train other stuff somewhere else, god knows where? This gameā€™s explanation of mechanics is so very obtuse!

    Honestly I am not sure, I haven’t concerned myself with training that much. However there are not that many trainers out there anyway, so feel free to spend the points if you want to.

    Healing: I drink up a lot of those medkit potions but thereā€™s limited supply, whatā€™s the alternative?

    You can get healing points from Rejira (in the Dji-Kas building) for free sometimes, when you exit the dialog. You can repeat this an unlimited number of times, so you can pretty much stack up with the however you want.

    At least you can get them in scroll form later in the game, which also helps immensely if you haven’t trained them yet. As for the 3D, combat and the feeling of “enclosedness” is where it is most useful, but puzzles are just annoying there.

    Yeah, the Czech translation could have been better, but without it, I would have likely skipped over the game as a child completely! The translators did make a few mistakes here and there, and they didn’t take the game’s system of pronoun inflection to its full potential, but I didn’t mind that back in the day. (Still I cannot forgive them mistaking “prosthesis” with “prostate”)

    Something I was wondering about: As a world, Albion feels a bit “small” in-game, with only two iskai settlements, and more but still a handful of human ones. Is the world as explored in-game to scale, or did you imagine it bigger, with potentially more cities and villages to explore on the existing continents, or perhaps with even more islands and continents out there, unimplemented?

    We managed to find the issue ā€’ the port needs the file ALBION.EXE in the root directory, but in some versions, it is named MAIN.EXE. Simply rename (or copy) MAIN.EXE to ALBION.EXE and it will work.

    Another issue is the CD path. As described in the readme, it needs to be relative, so if the CD root is in the CD\ALBION folder, just open SETUP.INI and set SOURCE_PATH=CD\ALBION. This has the added bonus of making your installation portable. šŸ˜‰

    Lastly, these display settings worked the best for me, in Albion.cfg:

    Display_ScaledWidth=1080
    Display_ScaledHeight=720
    Display_Fullscreen=yes
    Display_Enhanced_3D_Rendering=yes
    Display_MouseCursor=normal
    Display_Scaling=advanced
    Display_AdvancedScaler=normal
    Display_ScalerFactor=max

    Ninetongues: – Cut content! Albion fans have found info in the code about a ā€œcutā€ nation described only as ā€œhedonistsā€. They were supposed to live in the place where the Dji Cantos are and use the same beautiful tile set. Is there any truth in all that?

    We’ve talked about those on the Discord, and I don’t think there was more to the Decadent (Dekadenten) other than it was supposed to be Jurie’s nation and involved in the quest for the Seed. But I’d love to hear more!

    You could also use the port for Linux, and perhaps the Windows port could be run through Wine.

    You download the zip file for your platform (e.g. Albion-Windows-x86-v1.7.2-sdl1.zip) and extract the contents to the Albion directory, where you have ALBION.EXE etc. You run it via Albion.cmd or SR-Main.exe.

    It should work straight out of the box, but I recommend editing Albion.cfg and setting Audio_MIDI_Subsystem=bassmidi, in addition to pointing Audio_SoundFont_Path to a soundfont of your choice (basically a soundfont is a sound “palette”, defining the actual sounds for MIDI instruments). I recommend using 8MBGM.SF2, so for example if you download that and place it in the DRIVERS directory (rename it to 8MBGM.SF2), you just set Audio_SoundFont_Path=DRIVERS\8MBGM.SF2 in the config to use it.
