Already three years since my original post and suggestion. Still would like to play this game again and listen to a podcast Episode from you guys.
Played this one in the Atari ST back in the 80s. Funny game with nice visuals but difficult as hell. I bare made it through the first few stages…
Yes, please! One of my all-time favorite games from the 90s. And one of the best space flight simulations.
Besides id’s previous games, Quake is one of my all time favorite shooters from the 90s. The history and background of this game is super interesting. It also marks a big shift for id software. The soundtrack is amazing, and it opened a total new world of music for me back in the days.
Let me know if you need support for a podcast episode on this one.
Great idea. I’d also like to play that again – maybe this time I’ll be able to finish it 😉
Also welcome from my side!
Didn’t know that was possible in Settlers 2. I always played alone.
How did that work though? Was it a split screen game? Must have been weird with the low resolution at the time.
Makes sense. Obviously id software left quite a mark in the 90s.
Quakes soundtrack is massive. One of the first games with a full soundtrack on audio CD. And created by a major music artist, Nine Inch Nails. That was new and certainly isn’t common today either.
No worries, I can wait ;).
I’d also really like to hear a review of this game in one of the upcoming podcasts. Played it so many hours in the mid-90s. Such a great game. Graphics (with the version that offered enhanced textures) were amazing for the time – great soundtrack too.
Unfortunately Lucasarts never made any other space flight sim after Tie Fighter that holds up to it. All current Star-Wars-themed flight simulations focus on multiplayer.
Just heard a few days ago that a remake is is the making:

Such a great game. Please do a review of it. It’s awesome. Played it on the Atari ST with a friend throughout a whole summer and later on PC.
