Thanks so much! I hadn’t ever had the experience of calling a hint line 😉
I don’t have the 25th anniversary one, but I do have the Spanish CD version (from GOG, bought it before the 25th anniversary, I believe it’s the “legacy version” now.)
I’m not using the GOG launcher though, I just added it to ScummVM from the GOG bundle.
I can probably make it today (Sunday), Monday would be more difficult.
For some reason that was obvious when I was a kid 🙂
I noticed that too!
However, ScummVM allows having both text and speech, which is great for me since English is not my first language 🙂
That’s so cool! I’ll try to keep an eye on this thread to have a better chance to join next time 🙂
Count me in! Although I have similar time constraints as gn0me, but I’ll try and join if you guys meet to play this game 🙂
The only game I remember my mom playing was Sokoban (a CGA game, not sure how many of those were out there for DOS).
That and some times she also helped my brother and I with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade puzzles 🙂
As with many “ludicrous” stories of the development of this game, there’s also one for that feature: https://joesiegler.blog/2014/12/happy-20th-rise-of-the-triad/#coffee-cup-multiplayer 🙂
It’s also worth noting that the shareware version has unique levels that aren’t part of the full game, so it’s an additional thing to compare 🙂

Oh man, that site is glorious!
Did anyone check the SECRETS AND CHEATS section?
Are any of those “secrets” true?
I saw this game in magazines back in the day and always wanted to play it.
The aesthetics were really appealing too me, but I know nothing about the game.
I wonder if it holds up today 🙂
Is it available through any online store nowadays?
Yes! This game has a lot of stuff like that. Some say it has “personality” 🙂
I believe the yawning in god mode was because of something John Romero did while playing deathmatch, or testing god mode on Doom or something (Romero wasn’t involved in Rise of the Triad but Tom Hall who is very close to Romero was).
I love GDC Post Mortems of classic games. Thanks for sharing!
